BBULL Königsbach: Achieving 100% renewable energy with our own PV and heat pumps by 2027

Keeping your requirements in focus – our site is becoming renewable

Whoever produces, knows the challenges: becoming more efficient, reducing emissions, delivering reliably. We start with ourselves and systematically convert our site in Königsbach. Specifically: photovoltaics 79.98 kWp, complete conversion to heat pumps, ~160 mm roof insulation, as well as 11 kW charging stations with provision for more. By 2027, we will reach 100% renewable energy on balance – with our own PV and a switch to green power.

  • PV 79.98 kWp
  • Yield ≈ 80,000 kWh/year
  • Heating HP ≈ 38 kWth each
  • Storage 4×1,000 l
  • Heating rods 4×3 kW
  • Roof insulation ≈ 160 mm
  • Charging points 2×11 kW (+2)

Implementation at a glance

  • Electricity:
    • The PV system (172 modules at 465 Wp, module output ~23%) provides approx. 80,000 kWh/year.
    • Connection possibility for battery storage prepared.

  • Heating:
    • 3 heat pumps (≈38 kWth) supply the building.
    • 4 × 1.000 l buffer stores heat.
    • 4 × 3 kW heating elements provide backup on very cold days or during PV peaks.
    • The step-by-step replacement of the oil heating system has been implemented – centrally for efficiency.

  • Building insulation:
    • 642 m² roof area insulated.
    • ~160 mm insulation thickness.
    • Exact savings are difficult to quantify here, but we conservatively estimate ~10% for this area.

  • Mobility:
    • 2 x 11 kW charging stations installed, PV-controlled.
    • Provision for two more already prepared.
    • This already enables the local CO₂-free operation of a vehicle fleet.

Already implemented in 2025

  • Roof & PV: Start February, completed end of April – completed.
  • Heating & distribution: Oil heating replaced – completed.
  • Conversion and installation of heat pumps: Mid-September – completed.

Expected effect (on balance):

  • PV yield ≈ 80,000 kWh/year.
  • Replacement of approx. 28,000 l heating oil/year (fossil fuel).
  • The high average COP of 3.5 enables the balanced operation of the heat pumps through the PV system.

Milestones by 2027

  • 2024: Finalization and planning of necessary steps.
  • 2025: Roof + PV in operation, heat pumps installed, charging stations active.
  • 2026: Storage regulation reinstalled, PV-optimized charging stations expanded.
  • 2027: Conversion to green electricity – together with our own PV, this achieves 100% renewable energy on balance for electricity and heat at the site.
